HELLO! I’M
I’m a Registered Dietitian and Founder of The Wellful, based in San Francisco, CA.
What I really love is helping people find freedom from diet culture and food guilt so that they can do the things they love without letting food rules or a number on the scale dictate how they show up for themselves each day.
So much of the information we receive around health, nutrition and wellness focuses on specifics – grams of carbs, calories, labeling foods as ‘good’ or ‘bad.’ I care more about the context. What is your relationship with food like? What’s underneath these patterns? What’s the BIGGER picture?
TRAINING
I work with clients to start from the bottom, we need to first create a stable foundation – your relationship with food and your body. If we don’t have that stable foundation, anything we add to the top (food rules, a new health headline, etc) can’t be supported and feels chaotic or hard to carry. When you have that solid foundation, it not only supports your health right now, but will also helps you to navigate diet culture messages in the future.
I stumbled into the field of nutrition when struggling with food intolerances and my relationship with food in high school led me into the office of a registered dietitian. This is where I first realized the connection between how we eat and how we feel. I loved the relationship I had with my dietitian and it is my purpose to change the way we talk about health and guide others develop a positive, healthy relationships with food, too.
My nutrition philosophy:
When it comes to nutrition, I’m a firm believer in 3 things: that we can feel our best without feeling obsessed, our relationship with food and our body is as important as what we put into our body, and that nutrition doesn’t need to be confusing or complicated. With so many diet messages available to us, we hear a lot about the specifics of food, but rarely give enough credit to the importance of having a healthy relationship with food to put that information to use in a healthful way.
