Introduce Yourself!
Hello! I’m Cameron Rogers, a content creator in the health and wellness space and the voice behind @freckledfoodie, where I am on a mission to make healthy living approachable and reassuring everyone that, no matter their emotion, they are not alone.
What does health mean to you?
Being the best version of yourself across all mediums and finding comfort and acceptance in the grey area.
How did you get started and what inspired you to start your business?
I originally began my journey in the health and wellness space after graduating from college and suffering from digestive health issues. After endless elimination diets, doctors appointments, tests, prescriptions, and supplements, I was determined to learn more about my health so that I could better advocate for myself. From there, I also found my passion in the kitchen and a creative outlet I didn’t know I was lacking. Once I realized how fun it was to experiment, I began sharing my recipes on my Instagram and slowly opened up to sharing more of my overall life with my community.
What was the biggest challenge you faced in this process and how did you keep yourself motivated?
Originally, the biggest challenge was letting go of my ego and making the decision to leave my well-respected and well-payed job in Sales & Trading to take a chance on myself and pursue Freckled Foodie full time. Currently, the challenge I face daily is making sure that I am providing content of value for my community so that I can use my platform for purpose.
What is the most important message you want your viewers to receive through your platform?
No matter the emotion you are feeling, you are not alone. Loneliness can be the most depressing and debilitating emotion and, no matter how wild your thoughts or feelings are or how unique they feel, I am here to reassure you that you are not alone in feeling them.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Leave it all on the field. It was something my grandfather and parents told me before my sports practices and games growing up, but I think it applies to all aspects of life. If you’re not giving your all, then why are you wasting your time doing it?
What is your favorite way to relax?
Something I am constantly trying to get better at! Right now it is the time spent cuddling with our puppy, Charlie, or the time spent with my husband reading at night.
What advice would you give to your early 20’s self? Stop being so critical of and hard on yourself. You’re doing your best! Also, people care way less than you think they do.
What’s something you are currently obsessed with? (could be anything that comes to your mind! Object, things, place, restaurant, product)
I’ve never been a skincare person, but I recently dived right in and started an embarrassingly lengthy morning and nighttime skincare routine and it brings me so much joy.
Current tv show?
I’m a big TV watcher, but I’m shockingly not binge-watching anything right now. Some shows I loved that I watched over quarantine were Little Fires Everywhere, Never Have I Ever, and Normal People
Current book?
Well, you’re catching me at an interesting time. I currently am on book 26 of quarantine… I cannot stop reading! I have fallen hard for “beach read” romance novels and have devoured everything Colleen Hoover over the past 2+ months. My favorites were November 9, Hopeless, and It Ends With Us. However, I’m currently trying to mix in some more educational reading so I’m about to start Untaimed by Glennon Doyle and The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander.
Favorite podcast?
If you listen to my podcast, Freckled Foodie & Friends (@ffandfriendspod), you hear me reference this show every episode, but I am an avid fan of Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert. He is my absolute idol when it comes to podcast hosts and is my dream guest to have on my show. If anyone has the connection – help me out!
Where can the audience find you and what are you most currently up to? (share handle, current podcasts, books)
My most active channel is Instagram, so I would first say follow me there @freckledfoodie. From there you’ll find my daily content, unfiltered stories, and IGTV cooking shows. Also, come check out my podcast, Freckled Foodie & Friends, website, and YouTube page – where I release a VLOG weekly. Excited to have you join the FF fam!
